The upgraded LKP-903. Meet the LD9
The development of mining machines at KGHM ZANAM S.A. is based on the systematic improvement of proven design solutions. In response to the growing demands of modern mining and the needs of international markets, the LKP-903 loader, produced by KGHM ZANAM S.A., has undergone a series of modernisations in recent months. The new version, designated with the symbol LD9, is a well-considered response to operator expectations and underground work standards. The abbreviation “LD” is derived from the word “loaders” and is part of a new naming system for the machinery.
The modernisation covered three key areas: the control system, cabin comfort, and the machine’s visual identity.
The first significant change is the use of joysticks instead of a traditional steering wheel. This solution, widely used in modern mining machinery, significantly improves ergonomics. The operator gains greater freedom of movement, more space in the cabin, and easier access to the controls. Additionally, the new control system allows for the installation of safety features, such as a lock to prevent accidental steering, which enhances overall safety. Such solutions implemented by KGHM ZANAM S.A. are a direct response to the practical needs of users.
The second area of change concerns cabin soundproofing. The interior has been covered with insulating foam protected by a polyurea coating, which reduces noise penetration and provides a durable surface protection. This solution supports the maintenance of stable and ergonomic working conditions for the operator. The materials used are not only durable, but also resistant to damage and chemical agents, making the cabin easier to keep clean. This is another example of how KGHM ZANAM S.A. is raising the standards for machinery dedicated to harsh working conditions.

The third element of the modernisation is the new visual identity. The machine has received refreshed markings and paintwork. Furthermore, reflective elements have been applied to improve the loader’s visibility in underground working conditions, thereby increasing safety levels. In designing the LD9 version, KGHM ZANAM S.A. placed emphasis on technology, as well as on functionality and operational safety.
The LD9 version is more than just a technological update; it is an expression of a user-centric approach focused on the everyday conditions in which the equipment operates. The modernised LD9 combines a proven design with new solutions, offering a machine better adapted to the challenges of contemporary mining.
