Drilling and bolting trucks are self-propelled mining machines that drill blastholes and bolt holes at the production face and install rock bolting components. KGHM ZANAM offers four models (the KOT1.75 and SWK2.0 bolting trucks, and the SWW2.0A and SWW2.0B drilling trucks) ranging in height from 1,750 to 2,000 mm and featuring Stage V compliant engines.
The machines are adapted to operate in low-profile and narrow workings, as well as in demanding climatic conditions. Selecting the right model allows the truck to be tailored to the working’s geometry, the mining method, and the scope of operations being carried out.
The machines are used in the extraction of metal ores and other mineral resources in facilities free from methane hazards. They perform two related but separate tasks divided between the machines: preparing the production face for blasting operations (drilling trucks) and securing the exposed roof with rock bolting (bolting trucks).
Efficient working components and high power output enable drilling in rock strata that are difficult to process. Their stable design and rock drilling systems support operations in both sedimentary layers and harder rock faces.
The trucks feature a single operator’s station and a single boom. Depending on their intended use, they are equipped with drilling frames for blastholes or bolting turrets for installing expansion and resin bolts.
In drilling trucks, the working system includes a telescopic boom and a drilling frame, which facilitates precise drill starting. For bolting operations, a bolting turret tailored to the type of components being installed is used, equipped with a rotary or percussive rock drill at the end.
The four models differ primarily in their intended use, dimensions, and the range of drilled hole diameters.

* The SWW2.0B enables the drilling of longer holes by manually adding drill rods.
The KOT1.75 is the lowest machine in its category, standing 1,750 mm high and 2,300 mm wide. It drills holes up to 7,000 mm in length and 25 to 38 mm in diameter, while its 115 kW engine complies with the Stage V standard. The model is intended for workings with a restricted cross-section.
The SWK2.0 is adapted for installing rock bolting using bolts 1.6 to 2.2 m long. It drills holes 28 to 38 mm in diameter, weighs 19,300 kg, and uses a 100 kW Stage V engine. A three-speed gearbox allows it to reach up to 18 km/h during transits between production faces.
The SWW2.0A is equipped with an RRW-type drilling frame featuring a Montabert HC106 percussive rock drill, and in newer versions, a Montabert HC95 rock drill.
The SWW2.0B is equipped with an RT-1B telescopic frame and a Montabert HC25 rock drill. The design enables the drilling of long holes by manually adding drill rods.
The chassis parameters in both versions are similar: a height of 2,000 mm, a width of 2,600 mm, a 100 kW Stage V compliant engine, and a hole diameter range of 28 to 64 mm.
The operator cabs are designed to withstand impacts with an energy of up to 60 kJ, which protects the workstation during rockfalls. The appropriate stability of the machine reduces perceptible vibrations and additional loads generated during the drilling process.
Despite an overall length reaching 14 m, the trucks maintain their manoeuvrability, making them suitable for room-and-pillar, longwall, and roadway mining systems. The selected tyres ensure traction even on a bumpy floor and slightly inclined terrain.
Bolting trucks allow for drilling a bolt hole and installing the bolting component directly at the production face. KGHM ZANAM offers machines configured for two types of bolts (expansion and resin bolts) and featuring a working system designed to install components ranging from 1.6 to 2.6 m in length, and up to 7 m in the case of the KOT1.75.
Model selection is based on four criteria:
the height and width of the working: for low cross-sections, the KOT1.75 is recommended;
the scope of work: drilling blastholes (SWW trucks) or bolting (SWK and KOT trucks);
the required diameter and length of the holes resulting from the blasting technology;
the length of the bolts used and the type of rock bolting.
Drilling trucks are used for drilling blastholes. Bolting trucks are used for drilling bolt holes and installing bolts to secure the exposed roof.
No. The portfolio includes separate drilling trucks (SWW) and bolting trucks (SWK and KOT), selected according to the scope of work carried out at the production face.
No. The machines are designed for facilities extracting metal ores and other mineral resources where there are no methane hazards.
The KOT1.75, with a height of 1,750 mm and a width of 2,300 mm. The other models are 2,000 mm high and 2,600 mm wide.
The working system supports bolting components from 1.6 to 2.6 m in length, and up to 7 m in the KOT1.75 machine, depending on the model and equipment configuration.
